Baby Barns
Here is a look inside the 8X12 Baby Barn, inside you can see how the Barn is constructed, the walls are four feet high and made from 2x4 lumber set on 16" centers with a header and a shoe . Covering the walls are 7/16" of an inch thick OSB, which stands for oriented strand board, and is the standard for all Barns. OSB is only used on the walls and for making gussets. If you take a closer look at the rafters which are placed on 24" centers you can see the gussets, I use OSB because they are stronger than metal ones and temperature doesn't affect them. Over top of the OSB is placed vinyl siding of what ever color you like just as long it is still commercially available today, If you look towards the back of the Barn you'll notice a vent which is standard on all barns and sheds. Here is a look at the floor, the floor is constructed of 2X4 lumber on 16" centers, over top of which is placed tongue and groove boards over the initial floor frame, No OSB is ever used on the floor. Underneath of the floor I place 4 skids which are incorporated into the floor system , this adds strength to the floor and makes it easy to load onto a truck, as well as making it stable during transport and makes it better for setup once it arrives. |
